FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How do I get there?

A: 90 Barnett Shoals Road is very near downtown Watkinsville, in the red barn that once housed Main Street Yarn. The yoga studio is on the ground floor, and there are several doors through which you can enter. You can park anywhere along the right side of the barn. Enter your address into the Google Maps widget on the side of this blog for custom directions, or see the "Directions" tab for a map, pictures of the building, and more.

Q: Do I have to register for classes?

A: No, all classes are on a walk-in basis...come whenever you feel like it! However, all students must sign in before every class at the donation box (on the table in front of the counter). This sign-in sheet is also a waiver. If you are under 18, you need to have a guardian sign for you. The class schedule is updated monthly and posted here under the "Current Month's Schedule" tab and also on our Facebook page.

Q: What type of yoga do you practice?

A: If the class is listed simply as "yoga," then it is a Hatha yoga class suitable for all experience levels. Even then, the exact style of the class may vary based on who is teaching it and what they love about yoga (and life). See our teacher biographies and class descriptions tabs for more! In Hatha yoga, we focus on our breathing as way of connecting the mind to the body as we move through the poses. We enjoy feeling good in the present moment, not worrying about fitting into "perfect" postures or keeping in sync with everyone else. We are all in a different place and honoring that is part of yoga.

Q: What do I wear?

A: Wear exercise clothing. We suggest you wear a top that is snug enough so it won't fall down around your face if you bend over! We practice barefoot (you can wear socks if you like). Shoes are not worn in the studio.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: Please bring a mat and any other props you need. We have mats, blankets, blocks, and bolsters for use in classes if you cannot bring your own. It is more hygienic to use your own mat.

Q: What do I do when I get there?

A: We recommend you arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can sign in and set up at your leisure. Take off your shoes before entering the studio; you can put them in a cubby on the porch or carry them inside to place in the cubbies behind the counter. Sign the waiver at the counter, leave a donation if you like, and grab whatever props you need (mat, blanket, block, etc.). Don't forget to turn off your phone! Then you can find a space in the practice area to roll out your mat and prepare for class. We're pretty easy-going...if in doubt, just ask! :-)
