October 2014 updates!

Hi, everyone!

We've had some shuffling around in the schedule, so make sure you take a look. There are no classes on Wednesdays for this month, but we've made up for it by adding new classes and a new teacher!

Sarah will be teaching a general yoga class as well as Laughing Yoga. Be sure to check it out!

Chanda will now be teaching a Beginners' Yoga class expressly for newcomers who'd like to ease in to practicing yoga.

Dr. Cal Clements' yoga workshops have been moved to Sundays at an earlier time, as well.

Namaste and happy fall!

August 2014 Updates

Hello, LIBY devotees! August's schedule is here! Click the thumbnail above to enlarge.

We have a lot of great news for this month! Starting on Friday, August 1st, the studio will be in the larger space downstairs (formerly Main Street Yarns & Fibers). Bring your friends to help us fill it up! J

A big welcome back to two of our wonderful teachers! Kerem has returned from his summer break to teaching Wednesday's Gentle Yoga class...thank you so much, Jason, for subbing for him in July. Dr. Cal Clements, founder of our affiliate studio Rubber Soul Yoga, is visiting again to teach a special workshop series every Thursday night focusing on essential yoga poses. The theme for each workshop is listed on the schedule. Don't miss this exciting opportunity to improve your yoga practice and knowledge!

We are also very pleased to welcome two NEW teachers to the studio! Maleah will be teaching yoga Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 10:30 (perfect for perking you up before lunch), and Meera leads her Gentle Yoga class on Tuesdays at 6 PM (excellent for evening relaxation).

Last but not least, a sincere thank you to all of our friends for attending and supporting Let It Be Yoga! With this month's expansion, we will be able to bring the community even more of the yoga opportunities that everyone can join in. It wouldn't have been possible without all of you! Namaste.

We're Expanding!

Big News!! Let It Be Yoga (LIBY) will be moving into a larger space...the downstairs of the same building we're already in, actually!

We have loved the space upstairs and always will. The new space is equally beautiful and tranquil, but much roomier. It will also showcase the amazing works of local artist Cindy Jerrell and possibly others.

We'll hold all classes downstairs beginning in August. Hope to see you there!

July's schedule is here

July will be a busy month for some of our teachers! Jim and Elizabeth are taking July off for travel, but they plan to resume teaching their classes in August!

Kerem is out of town for most of July, so Jason will be substituting for his Gentle Yoga class.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How do I get there?

A: 90 Barnett Shoals Road is very near downtown Watkinsville, in the red barn that has a yarn store (Main Street Yarn) on the bottom floor. The yoga studio is on the second floor. You can park anywhere along the right side of the barn. The door to the stairs is on the left side of the building (around the corner, on the opposite side from the driveway). More directions and pictures are at rubbersoulyoga.com.

Q: Do I have to register for classes?

A: No, all classes are on a walk-in basis...come whenever you feel like it! However, all students must sign in before every class at the donation box in the back room (behind the room where we practice). This sign-in sheet is also a waiver. If you are under 18, you need to have a guardian sign for you.

Q: What type of yoga do you practice?

A: If the class is listed simply as "yoga," then it is a Hatha yoga class suitable for all experience levels. [Even then, the exact style of the class may vary based on who is teaching it and what they love about yoga (and life). See the teacher biographies and class descriptions at rubbersoulyoga.com for more!] In Hatha yoga, we focus on our breathing as way of connecting the mind to the body as we move through the poses. We enjoy feeling good in the present moment, not worrying about fitting into "perfect" postures or keeping in sync with everyone else. We are all in a different place and honoring that is part of yoga.

Q: What do I wear?

A: Wear exercise clothing. We suggest you wear a top that is snug enough so it won't fall down around your face if you bend over! We practice barefoot (you can wear socks if you like). Shoes are not worn in the studio.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: Please bring a mat and any other props you need. We have mats, blankets, blocks, and bolsters for use in classes if you cannot bring your own. It is more hygienic to use your own mat.

Q: What do I do when I get there?

A: We recommend you arrive 10-15 minutes early so you can sign in and set up at your leisure. Take off your shoes before entering the studio; you can put them in a cubby on the porch or carry them upstairs to place in the cubbies in the back room. Sign the waiver in the back room, leave a donation if you like, and grab whatever props you need (mat, blanket, block, etc.). Don't forget to turn off your phone! Then you can find a space in the practice area to roll out your mat and prepare for class. We're pretty easy-going...if in doubt, just ask! :-)
